PIG-LG-BU53RG

LG’s ProBeam BU53RG 4K Laser Golf Simulator Projector, supplied through Carl’s Place. The longest throw and the most lens shift in the catalogue, with warping software built in — Carl’s Place names it, with the LK936ST, as a projector that suits its curved enclosure. It mounts farther from the screen than the BenQ short-throws. Three years limited, up to 15,000 hours (LG).

Placement

Where it hangs

The throw ratio is 0.94–1.14 with a 1.2× zoom, so the mounting distance has a range for a given screen width. LG does not publish a projection offset for this unit; its lens shift of vertical ±50%, horizontal ±20% is what moves the image. Precision sizes the image to the screen’s height on Carl’s Place openings, and the Space Calculator reports the resulting distance from the screen and the drop below your ceiling for the opening that fits your room.

  • Throw ratio. 0.94–1.14 · zoom 1.2×.
  • Projection offset. not published.
  • Lens shift. vertical ±50%, horizontal ±20%.
  • Keystone. Digital keystone not offered; warping built in.
  • Brightness. 5,000 ANSI lumens.
  • Resolution. 4K UHD (3840 × 2160).
  • Light source. Laser — up to 15,000 h.
  • Input lag. not published.
  • Body. 370 × 156 × 290 mm (14.6 × 6.1 × 11.4 in); 21.4 lb (9.7 kg).

Every figure is LG’s, from its product and specification pages. A figure LG does not publish is marked as such rather than filled in.

What matters in a golf room

Three specifications that decide the picture

Brightness sells projectors. In an enclosure it is the geometry — throw, offset and lag — that decides whether the picture is where the golfer needs it.

The throw

The throw ratio is 0.94–1.14 with a 1.2× zoom, so the mounting distance has a range for a given screen width. LG does not publish a projection offset for this unit; its lens shift of vertical ±50%, horizontal ±20% is what moves the image.

The light source

Laser — up to 15,000 h. 5,000 ANSI lumens at 4K UHD (3840 × 2160).

The lag

LG publishes input lag of not published. Which mode applies depends on the PC and the simulation software driving it.

Whose numbers these are

Precision does not manufacture this projector and does not test it. Every figure on this page is LG’s. Dynamic contrast figures are deliberately left off; they do not describe a lit golf room.

Fill the height, not the width. The difference is where the projector hangs.

Where would it hang in your room?

The Space Calculator places the lens for the opening that fits your room and reports the mount drop. If it lands over the swing, it says so.
