Placement

Beside the ball, so the ceiling only has to clear you

GOLFJOY publishes a ceiling height of 2.75–3.1 m (9–10.2 ft) and a minimum of two yards from the hitting position to the screen; Carl’s Place recommends 10 ft to the screen and roughly a 10 ft ceiling. The unit sits on the ground beside the ball, parallel to the target line and close to it — GOLFJOY’s instruction is to lay a club on the ground pointing at the target and place the unit alongside.

  • Body. 6.42″ W × 3.90″ H × 13.39″ D; 3.00 kg / 6.61 lb (GOLFJOY product page).
  • Hitting zone. 250 mm long × 200–250 mm wide (GOLFJOY product page; GOLFJOY’s collection page gives smaller figures, and the product page is used here).
  • Handedness. GOLFJOY: fully compatible with left- and right-handed modes, switched in software or on the unit.
  • Computer. Standalone use is implied by GOLFJOY’s built-in screen and mobile apps; a Windows PC (Intel i5-10600 or better, per Carl’s Place) connects by Ethernet for simulation.

What it measures

Cameras, zone, and what ships in the box

What separates one launch monitor from another is what it can see, from where, and what it comes with.

Tracking

Three cameras; 27 data points on unmarked balls, club data with the supplied club stickers (Carl’s Place program sheet; GOLFJOY).

The hitting zone

250 mm long × 200–250 mm wide (GOLFJOY product page; GOLFJOY’s collection page gives smaller figures, and the product page is used here). Where the ball may sit is what decides whether a centered mat serves two golfers without moving anything.

Software — in the box, and compatible

GOLFJOY PRO, up to three months free with a new unit (GOLFJOY product page). GOLFJOY lists GSPro, E6 CONNECT and Creative Golf alongside its own GOLFJOY PRO; each is licensed from its publisher.

Whose numbers these are

Precision does not manufacture this unit and does not test it. Every figure on this page is GOLFJOY’s or Carl’s Place’s, quoted from their published pages; where the two disagree the page says which it uses, and where neither publishes a figure it is stated as unknown rather than guessed.

Beside the ball, it asks the ceiling for nothing.

Which build is yours?

A side-placed unit asks nothing of the ceiling. Enter the room and the Space Calculator will show what the enclosure and the projector still need from it.
