Carl’s Place’s commercial-grade enclosure, built to order in six standard sizes and up to four depths. You choose the screen, the opening and how deep the bay runs; it arrives as a wraparound BlackStop™ cover with the foam inserts, the fittings and a cut diagram — and, by Carl’s design, no pipe. The frame is 2-inch EMT, bought locally to the diagram or added here as Carl’s pre-cut kit. Carl’s puts assembly at about two hours.

Screen Material

About this screen

Three bonded layers with a noise-dampening core — the smoothest white surface Carl’s makes, and the quietest. The right call in a room that can be fully darkened.

Enclosure Size

What this size needs

Outer frame 102″ H × 132.4″ W. Carl’s offers it 5 ft and 8 ft deep, screen to front rail; the rear fitting adds 9.5″ behind that and needs 9.5″ of clearance — 12″ is better. Not sure it fits?

Depth & Framing

Depth and framing

Five feet from the screen to the front rail — the frame ends well short of the tee, which Carl’s puts 10 to 12 ft from the screen, so the room’s own walls are the bay. You supply the frame — 2-inch EMT from an electrical supplier, cut to Carl’s diagram. Carl’s pre-cut kit for this size and depth is $910, if you would rather not.

Ordering and delivery

Made to order. Carl’s Place recommends planning two weeks from order to delivery. Your estimated ship date is in your order confirmation.

Shipping. Free ground shipping to the lower 48 states and Washington, D.C., the pipe framing kit included. Ships direct from Carl’s Place; a kit and its pipes may arrive as separate parcels, each with its own tracking.

Returns. Made-to-order enclosure kits carry Carl’s Place’s own terms — a return is approved before it ships back, within 30 days of delivery, complete and in like-new condition, and a cancellation after the first 24 hours carries Carl’s restocking charge. Contact Precision before shipping anything back.

Need a size or depth that is not listed?

Carl’s builds the Pro enclosure to custom dimensions, down to the inch, and offers the 10 ft and 15 ft depths on the 9 × 12, 10 × 13 and 10 × 15.5 openings only. Anything outside the list here is quoted rather than configured — a different path, not a hidden option on this one. Send the room and Precision comes back with the dimensions and the price.

What Is In The Box

Four parts, and the one you source or add

Carl’s ships the Pro kit as a kit, and the distinction matters at the point of purchase. Here is what arrives, and what does not.

The Impact Screen

Premium or High-Contrast Gray, cut and finished to the opening you selected. The Pro kit is offered in these two grades only; Carl’s Standard and Preferred materials belong to the DIY line.

The Wraparound Cover, Foam and Fittings

One piece of Carl’s BlackStop™ fabric forms the ceiling and both sidewalls — the wraparound design is what brings assembly down to about two hours, by Carl’s own figure. The foam inserts that pad the frame around the opening are in the box, as are every fitting and a custom diagram with the pipe lengths.

The Frame — 2-inch EMT

Pipe is not in this kit. Carl’s expects 2-inch EMT — the US trade name; the true outer diameter is 2.197″ — bought locally and cut to the diagram. The Pipe Framing choice in the configurator adds Carl’s own pre-cut kit for the size and depth you selected, so it cannot be ordered to the wrong length. Either way, Carl’s states the frame supports mounted electronics — projectors and overhead launch monitors — on the front bar or an optional crossbar.

The Screen

Two grades, and what actually changes

Both stop a ball and both are Carl’s three-layer Premium construction. What separates them is the room: how much ambient light it has, and whether the picture needs help holding its blacks.

Premium

Build: three bonded layers with a noise-dampening core.
Image: the smoothest white surface in Carl’s line.
Sound: the quietest white screen Carl’s makes.
Specified for: a room that can be fully darkened.

High-Contrast Gray Premium

Build: the Premium three-layer construction, in gray.
Image: deeper blacks and stronger color under ambient light.
Sound: the same as Premium.
Specified for: rooms with a window or a glass garage door.

Neither is the upgrade of the other. Gray earns its place in a room that cannot be fully darkened; in a dark room the white screen is the right call.

Sizing

Measure the opening, then choose the depth

Carl’s publishes every Pro size as an outer frame and a viewable screen, and every depth as the distance from the screen to the front of the frame — 5, 8, 10 or 15 feet. The backset rear fitting adds 9.5 inches to the footprint behind that, and it needs 9.5 inches of clearance behind the screen to fit at all; Carl’s recommends 12. Allow 2 inches above the frame for assembly and 2 to 3 inches each side. At 10 and 15 feet the sidewalls and ceiling run past the hitting position, so the enclosure’s own width becomes the room you swing in.

  • 8 x 10.5 — outer frame 102″ H × 132.4″ W · viewable screen 88.8″ × 118.4″ (4:3) · depths 5 ft and 8 ft
  • 8.5 x 11 — outer frame 107″ H × 139.1″ W · viewable screen 93.8″ × 125.1″ (4:3) · depths 5 ft and 8 ft
  • 8.5 x 14.5 — outer frame 107″ H × 181.8″ W · viewable screen 94.4″ × 167.8″ (16:9) · depths 5 ft and 8 ft
  • 9 x 12 — outer frame 114″ H × 148.4″ W · viewable screen 100.8″ × 134.4″ (4:3) · depths 5 ft, 8 ft, 10 ft and 15 ft
  • 10 x 13 — outer frame 123″ H × 160.4″ W · viewable screen 109.8″ × 146.4″ (4:3) · depths 5 ft, 8 ft, 10 ft and 15 ft
  • 10 x 15.5 — outer frame 123″ H × 190.3″ W · viewable screen 110.2″ × 176.3″ (16:10) · depths 5 ft, 8 ft, 10 ft and 15 ft

All figures are Carl’s Place’s own — the Pro Enclosure Specifications sheet for the dimensions, the product page for the buffer space and the depths offered per size. Carl’s allows for a small manufacturing variance. If a dimension decides your build, check it against their specification sheet as well as this page, or enter the room in the Space Calculator.

Two Ways To Build It

Same kit. Different Saturday.

It is the same hardware whether a professional installer frames it or you do — the enclosure does not know who assembled it. What changes is who sources and cuts 2-inch conduit, who hangs the electronics from the frame, and who is accountable when the picture is not square.

Build it yourself

Installation cost: $0.
Your time: Carl’s puts the enclosure at about two hours. Add the pipe — sourcing, cutting and deburring 2-inch EMT if you did not take the kit — the screen tension, the projector and launch-monitor mounts and the calibration, and it is a weekend.
You will need: a second pair of hands for the top rails, a ladder, and a pipe cutter if you are sourcing your own conduit.
What you get: a bay you understand, because you built it.

Have it installed

Installation cost: quoted with the build.
Your time: the walkthrough and the sign-off.
You will need: nothing. A professional installer frames, tensions, mounts and calibrates.
What you get: one contract and one accountable party for the whole build, rather than a folder of receipts from five vendors.

Same kit either way. The only thing that changes is who spends the Saturday. If you want the installed path priced, see how a Precision room gets built.

Whose numbers these are

Precision does not manufacture this kit and does not test it. Carl’s Place designs it, builds it and specifies it; Precision supplies it and publishes Carl’s figures rather than its own — including the depths Carl’s actually offers on each size, which are fewer than the specification sheet implies, and the one about the pipe you still have to buy.

That is the whole standard. If a number on this page matters to your build, it is on Carl’s specification sheet too, and you should go and check it.

Every dimension on this page is Carl’s Place’s own published specification — down to which depths they will actually cut.

Not sure which opening or depth your room takes?

Enter the three dimensions and how you swing. The Space Calculator will name the sizes and depths that fit, the ones that do not, and why — whether you buy the kit here or build the whole thing yourself.
