The mat follows the room’s width
Carl’s Place publishes 10 feet as the minimum room width with an offset hitting area and 14 feet for centered play that serves both handednesses. The mat line follows the same fork: the 4 × 5 and 5 × 8 put the strip to one side, the 4 × 9 and 6 × 10 put it in the middle. The long dimension runs across the swing.
- 4 × 5 ft — offset hitting area. The narrow-room mat.
- 5 × 8 ft — offset hitting area, with more standing room.
- 4 × 9 ft — centered hitting area, nine feet across the swing.
- 6 × 10 ft — centered hitting area, the largest in the line.
- Strip. 30″ long × 12″ wide × 1¾″ tall, replaceable without lifting the mat.
- Height. 1¾″ — and an overhead launch monitor measures its mounting height from the top of the mat, so every inch here is an inch of ceiling.
All dimensions are Carl’s Place’s own, from the HotShot mat system and hitting strip pages.
