Placement

It needs depth behind the tee, not height above it

Carl’s Place places the X3C 8–12 ft behind the tee with at least 10 ft from tee to screen — a 19 ft minimum room depth with buffer — 14 ft of width for a centered tee and at least 9 ft of ceiling. FlightScope’s manual gives 9–14 ft behind the tee for full shots and at least 8 ft of ball flight. It serves right- and left-handed golfers without being moved.

  • Body. 12 × 1⅞ × 10 in; 6 lb 10 oz (FlightScope product page).
  • Hitting zone. Not applicable — radar.
  • Handedness. Carl’s Place: no need to move the X3C between right- and left-handed golfers.
  • Computer. A Windows PC to FlightScope’s minimum specification; FS Golf also runs on iOS and Android.

What it measures

Cameras, zone, and what ships in the box

What separates one launch monitor from another is what it can see, from where, and what it comes with.

Tracking

Fusion tracking — Doppler radar with high-speed imaging; 50 data parameters including chipping and putting (Carl’s Place program sheet; FlightScope).

The hitting zone

Not applicable — radar. Where the ball may sit is what decides whether a centered mat serves two golfers without moving anything.

Software — in the box, and compatible

E6 Connect with twelve courses, FS Golf, FlightScope Tracer and the trajectory and environmental optimizers (FlightScope product page). FlightScope ships E6 Connect for iOS and PC with the X3C and names no other title for it.

Whose numbers these are

Precision does not manufacture this unit and does not test it. Every figure on this page is FlightScope’s or Carl’s Place’s, quoted from their published pages; where the two disagree the page says which it uses, and where neither publishes a figure it is stated as unknown rather than guessed.

Depth, not height, is the number that matters here.

Is the room deep enough?

A radar unit is a depth question, not a ceiling one. Enter the room and the Space Calculator will show whether the distance behind the tee is there.
