PIG-CGEC-PM-9X14-D8

Carl’s Place’s curved enclosure, built to order in six standard sizes and three depths. The impact screen bows around the golfer instead of standing flat, so the picture wraps the edge of vision; it arrives as the screen, the wraparound BlackStop™ fabric, the steel fittings and elbows, the foam inserts and the fasteners — and, by Carl’s design, no pipe. The frame is 2-inch EMT, bought locally to Carl’s cut sheet. The curve asks something of the projector that a flat screen does not, which is why this kit is specified with a consultation rather than by the Space Calculator.

Screen Material

About this screen

Three layers of tightly woven, impact-resistant polyester — the smoothest white surface Carl’s makes. The right call in a room that can be fully darkened.

Enclosure Size

What this size needs

Outer frame 108″ H × 166″ W. The screen is 160″ across the projection plane and 198.9″ along the curve — Carl’s publishes both. Allow 12″ behind the screen; 9.5″ is the minimum for the rear fittings. Talk the room through — the Space Calculator does not model a curve.

Depth

About this depth

Carl’s lists the 8 ft depth at 105.5 inches; the backset rear fitting adds 9.5 inches to the footprint. The frame ends short of the tee, so the room’s own walls are the bay. Pipe is not in the kit — 2-inch EMT to Carl’s cut sheet, or Carl’s freight-shipped pipe kit quoted with the room.

Ordering and delivery

Made to order. Carl’s Place recommends planning two weeks from order to delivery. Your estimated ship date is in your order confirmation.

Shipping. Free ground shipping to the lower 48 states and Washington, D.C. The kit ships from Carl’s Place in several boxes — Carl’s puts the heaviest at about 50 pounds and the whole kit at roughly 160 — so plan for two people to receive it. Carl’s pre-cut pipe kit for this enclosure ships by freight and is quoted through the consultation rather than sold here.

Returns. Made-to-order enclosure kits carry Carl’s Place’s own terms — a return is approved before it ships back, within 30 days of delivery, complete and in like-new condition, and a cancellation after the first 24 hours carries Carl’s restocking charge. Contact Precision before shipping anything back.

Need a size that is not listed, or the pipe kit?

Carl’s builds the curved enclosure to custom dimensions, and its pre-cut 2-inch pipe kit for this enclosure is a freight shipment with no flat rate. Both are quoted rather than configured — send the room and Precision comes back with the dimensions, the pipe and the price as one figure.

What Is In The Box

Five parts, and the one you source

Carl’s ships the curved kit as a kit, and the distinction matters at the point of purchase. Here is what arrives, and what does not.

The Curved Impact Screen

Carl’s three-layer Premium construction, in white or High-Contrast Gray, cut to the opening you selected and finished to hold the curve. The curved kit is offered in these two grades only.

Fabric, Fittings, Foam and Fasteners

BlackStop™ fabric for the ceiling and sides, steel fittings and elbows for every frame joint and corner, foam inserts for behind the screen flaps, and the ball bungees and zip ties that set the screen’s tension — all in the box, per Carl’s.

The Frame — 2-inch EMT

Pipe is not in this kit. Carl’s expects 2-inch EMT — the US trade name; the true outer diameter is 2.197″ — bought locally and cut to the lengths Carl’s supplies. Carl’s own pre-cut kit exists for this enclosure, but it ships by freight, so it is quoted with the room rather than added here. The back cover and baffles are also sold separately.

The Screen

Two grades, and what actually changes

Both stop a ball and both are Carl’s three-layer Premium construction. What separates them is the room: how much ambient light it has, and whether the picture needs help holding its blacks.

Premium

Build: three layers of tightly woven, impact-resistant polyester.
Image: the smoothest white surface in Carl’s line.
Specified for: a room that can be fully darkened.

High-Contrast Gray Premium

Build: the Premium three-layer construction, in gray.
Image: deeper blacks and stronger color under ambient light.
Specified for: rooms with a window or a glass garage door.

Neither is the upgrade of the other. Gray earns its place in a room that cannot be fully darkened; in a dark room the white screen is the right call.

Sizing

Two widths for every size

A curved screen has two widths, and Carl’s publishes both: the width across the projection plane — the flat line a projector sees — and the longer distance along the curve. The outer frame is the figure the room has to take. Carl’s lists the three standard depths at 105.5, 129.5 and 189.5 inches, with the backset rear fitting adding 9.5 inches to the footprint; it recommends 12 inches behind the screen and requires 9.5 to fit the fittings at all.

  • 9 x 14 — outer frame 108″ H × 166″ W · viewable screen 98.8″ H, 160″ across the projection plane, 198.9″ along the curve
  • 9 x 15 — outer frame 108″ H × 185″ W · viewable screen 98.8″ H, 179″ across the projection plane, 213.8″ along the curve
  • 9.5 x 14.5 — outer frame 114″ H × 175″ W · viewable screen 104.8″ H, 169″ across the projection plane, 205.9″ along the curve
  • 9.5 x 16 — outer frame 114″ H × 194″ W · viewable screen 104.8″ H, 188″ across the projection plane, 221.1″ along the curve
  • 10 x 15 — outer frame 120″ H × 185″ W · viewable screen 110.8″ H, 179″ across the projection plane, 213.8″ along the curve
  • 10 x 17 — outer frame 120″ H × 206″ W · viewable screen 110.8″ H, 199″ across the projection plane, 230.2″ along the curve

All figures are Carl’s Place’s own, from the Curved Golf Enclosure Kit Specifications sheet and the product page. Carl’s names the listing size a simplified name and allows for a small manufacturing variance; if a dimension decides your build, check it against their specification sheet as well as this page. The Space Calculator does not model the curve — this kit is specified through the consultation.

Two Ways To Build It

Same kit. Different Saturday.

It is the same hardware whether a professional installer frames it or you do. What changes with the curve is the projector: the picture has to be warped to the screen, which is a software or projector setting, and someone has to set it.

Build it yourself

Installation cost: $0.
Your time: the frame, the screen tension around a curve, the mounts, and the projector warping — Carl’s publishes no assembly time for this kit, and it is more than a weekend’s first attempt.
You will need: a second pair of hands, a ladder, a pipe cutter if you source your own EMT, and a projector or software that can warp the image.
What you get: a bay you understand, because you built it.

Have it installed

Installation cost: quoted with the build.
Your time: the walkthrough and the sign-off.
You will need: nothing. A professional installer frames, tensions, mounts and sets the warp.
What you get: one contract and one accountable party for the whole build, rather than a folder of receipts from five vendors.

Same kit either way. The only thing that changes is who spends the Saturday — and, on a curved screen, who sets the picture to it. See how a Precision room gets built for the installed path.

Whose numbers these are

Precision does not manufacture this kit and does not test it. Carl’s Place designs it, builds it and specifies it; Precision supplies it and publishes Carl’s figures rather than its own — both widths of every size, and the fact that the pipe kit is a freight shipment that cannot be priced on this page.

One thing Carl’s does say about the picture: it names its LG ProBeam BU53RG, which warps its own image, and the BenQ LK936ST as projectors that suit the curved enclosure. Which one, and how it hangs, is settled at the consultation.

Every dimension on this page is Carl’s Place’s own published specification — including the second width a curve gives every size.

A curved bay starts with the room and the projector

Send the three dimensions and where the projector can hang. Precision comes back with the size, the depth, the pipe kit and the picture settled as one specification — the Space Calculator handles the flat kits; this one is talked through.
