PIG-BENQ-LK936ST

BenQ’s short-throw 4K laser projector for golf simulators, supplied through Carl’s Place. A 0.81–0.89 throw ratio, 5,100 lumens and a 0% projection offset with ±60% vertical lens shift — the combination that lets the projector hang behind the golfer instead of over the swing. It is the projector in both of the builds the Space Calculator recommends. Three-year BenQ warranty, parts and labor.

Ordering and delivery

Ships from the manufacturer. Supplied through Carl’s Place and shipped separately from any Carl’s Place enclosure or mat on the same order, with its own tracking. A flat $25 shipping charge applies at checkout.

Mounting hardware. Not included. BenQ’s ceiling mount is the optional CMG3; Carl’s Place’s projector mounts are listed separately.

Returns and support

Returns. 30 days from delivery through Carl’s Place; an opened box in like-new condition carries a 15% restocking fee. Return shipping is the buyer’s. Contact Precision before shipping anything back.

Placement

Fill the screen’s height, and it hangs behind you

Carl’s Place openings are roughly 4:3; this projector is 16:9. Precision sizes the image to the screen’s height, so the picture fills the opening top to bottom and the strips either side land as black signal on the enclosure’s light-blocking surround. Sized that way, BenQ’s own throw formula puts the lens between ten and thirteen feet from the screen depending on the opening — overhead on the smallest, two to three feet behind the tee on the largest, which is where BenQ recommends it sits.

  • Throw. BenQ: throw distance = throw ratio × image width. On Carl’s 9 × 12 opening that is 11.9–13.1 ft from the screen.
  • Lens height. 0% offset puts the lens on the image’s centerline; +60% vertical shift lets it rise to 1.1 × the image height. The mount drop that leaves below your ceiling is what the Space Calculator reports.
  • Zoom. 1.1× — the throw-ratio range is the zoom range.
  • Keystone. 3D, ±40° vertical, horizontal and rotation. Lens shift is preferred; keystone costs resolution.
  • Input lag. BenQ publishes 16.7 ms at 4K 60 Hz and 34 ms at 1080p 60 Hz.
  • Body. 16.4 × 6.5 × 13.8 in; 15.4 lb. Sealed to IP5X; rated for 0–40 °C.

Every figure is BenQ’s, from the LK936ST product page and specification sheet and BenQ’s guide to screen size and distance. The drop range of BenQ’s CMG3 ceiling mount is not published, so the page does not state one.

What matters in a golf room

Three specifications that decide the picture

Brightness sells projectors. In an enclosure it is the geometry — throw, shift and lag — that decides whether the picture is where the golfer needs it.

Short throw, moved by lens shift

A 0.81 throw ratio fills a nine-foot-tall image from about twelve feet. Because the offset is 0%, the lens starts on the picture’s centerline and the ±60% vertical shift is what lifts it toward the ceiling — without the resolution loss keystone correction costs.

Laser, sealed, long-lived

BenQ rates the laser light source at 20,000 hours and seals the engine to IP5X against dust — the difference between a room that needs a lamp change and one that does not.

Lag you can measure

BenQ publishes the input lag in two modes: 16.7 ms at 4K 60 Hz and 34 ms at 1080p 60 Hz. Which one applies depends on the PC and the simulation software driving it.

Whose numbers these are

Precision does not manufacture this projector and does not test it. Every figure on this page is BenQ’s, and the throw distances are BenQ’s formula applied to Carl’s Place’s published screen dimensions. BenQ also publishes a dynamic contrast figure; it is deliberately left off, because it does not describe a lit golf room.

Fill the height, not the width. The difference is where the projector hangs.

Where would it hang in your room?

The Space Calculator places the lens for the opening that fits your room and reports the mount drop. If it lands over the swing, it says so.
